Hey, gents... My girlfriend's dad sent me a link on a PC wargame he is looking into (title above). Normally, I'm not a fan of turn-based games, but this one does look impressive. Anyone have any experience with this game or company? http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/index.htm
Hey CrazyD, I haven't played the game, but I have been torn between getting it or not, several times. It seems to be a pretty solid wargame. From various reviews and comments I have gathered the interface is not exactly user-friendly. Another turn-off for me is the fact that it ends in '44. WTF is that, make a huge game and then skip the climax!? Amusingly enough this is included in the western front version: http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/storm.htm Check out some of the reviews linked from the Schwerpunkt page! From what I have seen on various sites and on the wargaming group on usenet, Schwerpunkt has a pretty solid record with patching and such.
Thanks, Heartland. I've also seen some of the reviews, and it does seem impressive. From what I saw, the user inteerface dosen't look TOO bad- ecpecially compared to some other games out there. I haven't played turn-based games in a while, but I do remember many of them having VERY cumbersome interfaces. Then again, I just (for about the 100th time!) got out the old Close COmbat III CD last night. Every time I get the urge for some WW2 gaming, I keep coming back to CCIII. I haven't seen a better WW2 game yet!
