Hello all. New to forum and am searching for answers about my grandfather. I have a b/w photo of him in a german uniform with the number 55 on his shoulder plates. I am unable to find any information about a 55th infantry division during ww2. Best I can find is ww1 that states the 55th was disbanded in 1919. Any direction or insight on this would be great! Also if there are any places i can search for death records. Our family does not know where or how he died during the war. It is assumed he was on the eastern front. Our latest military photo of him show him as a senior corporal with GD on his shoulder plates, eastern front ribbon?, assault badge, krim shield and a wound badge. Again, any and all information or guidance to help us further understand his untold story is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
