I like this. Just curious, did you come up with this idea and put it together or was it a kit? Don't really matter, I like it.
raising of the flag was 23 Feb....my co-worker, with 3-9, was at Suribachi, around 89'.....what unit were you with?
So many questions come to mind when I come across such a person... One that you may not care for but comes to my mind all the time is: what do you think of the multitude of Vietnam movies and series that have come out in the last decades? I keep wondering about the authenticity, the way in which its being portrayed, and even the effect these reminders have on vets?
Nice one CAC. The guys I know are getting better day by day and some of them have always been rock solid and dealt with it. It is when they sleep that the subconscious takes over and f's with them. The guys I know don't like the Hollywood b.s. but lots of the stuff is pretty authentic, the claymores, the betty's, the Trail, Tet. The one thing for sure is Charlie and NVA were ghosts unless they had the edge in numbers. The jungle and a couple ounces of rice would take those boys a long way. And the tunnels, god forsaken tunnels. Many movies come to mind, but "We Were Soldiers Once - And Young" seemed to be extremely true to Galloway's and Moore's book. God Bless the men who fought in all the "Hells in a Very Small Place." Words of a true Hero--- Lt. Colonel Hal Moore 7th U.S. Cavalry: I can't promise you that I will bring you all home alive. But this I swear, before you and before Almighty God, that when we go into battle, I will be the first to set foot on the field, and I will be the last to step off, and I will leave no one behind. Dead or alive, we will all come home together. So help me, God. But, Tom, I am sure the group would love to hear your take on these important questions and comments?
Welcome and excellent model. Glad you stopped by and showed it to us. Good, I look forward to what you have to add to the discussion. Thanks for going to see the elephant. Most of us here appreciate what you did, I know I sure do.
I was in 82-90 first at MBHawaii, then 3-6 out of Lejeune...my wife's Unlce died 2 July 1967 was with B 1-9..good to see something different like your diorama ..I wish I could have the time do do that
Gentlemen thank you for your comments on my small diorama. I don't watch movies about Vietnam. The nightmare are getting less and less. I face my demons by doing dioramas. I only do dioramas about the The U,S. Marine Corps Semper Fi Tom "66-70"
You did a great job Tom! I enjoy seeing these pictures of your dioramas especially this one! They really amaze me!
Just a thought...you seem to be adept at original peices. Have you thought of using a 3d printer to get the peices/parts you might need? Any dog breed, any soldier position, even shrubbery...I've not heard of modellers doing that yet...just a thought.
