Some lovely shots, I particularly like the beer glasses one.
What is this? Some sort of direction finder?:

It l looks like a searchlight on a German Autobahn. I believe I recognize a Ju52 in the background too.

Entschuldigung bitte, ah no it isn't it is a Ringtrichter-Richtungshörer sound locator, there is no wide glas cover from side to side. This is per se part of the searchlight batterie compliment....note the man with the headphones on the left and the crewman on the right with the directional wheel in his hands....... ~

machs gut on this thread !

Nick back to your Heer belt and buckle does the pull tab have any markings on it ?

mine is marked : in an oval stamp sadly the stitching is right through the label - 1942 it appears Schneider ? the buckle is most probably enlisted man, smooth and painted brown-green

Woops, big mistake about my opinion of a searchlight! I'm sorry.
The buckle and belt don't have any markings.

No, the buckle does not have any stamps either.
The belt is from the Weimar period, maybe thats why it isnt stampt.

Don't worry Nick I got it wrong too. It has the same shape as a search light.
A good thing the old Sage is on the thread. I should have mentionned the absence of glass. I'm surprised nobody commented on the possible location. Do you believe it is indeed ann Aotobahn with a runway for transport aircrafts ( I see a Ju52) ?

I read a little more about the sound detector. These were used at the very beginning of the war.

That seems to be correct, the pictures were taken in 1939 ore 1940 in Poland.
