Here a nice find. I got this for a few euros. I tis a French 1926 Model Adrian type helmet used during WWII. The interesting thing is the black coating that shows it was designed for a Gendarme unit.

actually it has a name engraved on the the front where the insignia used to be.

Here is another find: it's a lamp that totally looks like the 1944 U.S. flashlights, but it's greyish blue, not green. I wonder if it's a french version from the 1944-1950 period? It is not complete but should be quite easy to restore.

My friend and I (pegasus) each have one of these field phones. A few weeks back we linked them up with a length of wire and to our amazement, discovered that they both still worked perfectly.

Nice helmet Skipper, when I was in Normandy last August I went to a militaria show in Vimoutiers and there were a number of Adrian helmets for sale there. I would have liked one but the dealers were asking a little too much for them...60 to 70 euros.

Just new today, two german canteens, one early version from 1939, and a late one (red steel).
    Both in absolute mint condition.

nice canteens! I also love the field telephones. As to the Adrian helmest they are worth 30-40 euros each rather than 60-70. The one I hav eis worht less because it's in poor condition and has no interior. You could probably get one for 10-25 euros. The problem at fairs is that prices go up. If you want a new one I recommend getting a reconditioned one from the Belgian army. They are exactly the same and just need to be repainted in the original color.

Yesterday I went to see a friend who offered me the following items:

    A German model 1942 canteen

    a huge WWII French flag

a big 40cm x 40cm ( probably 12 kilos or more) shell from a Lancaster Cookie bomb. It's the upper part with part of the whole for the cylinder head visible.

The best I've had in since months and it's a present too!:)

This lamp was found painted with an ugly gold paint for reuse after the war by a civilian , it was squized and all twisted . After a small restoration (far from finished) this is what I got. Under the painting I saw some engravings that were hidden. It still needs cleaning and four new glasses. It's a real original Luftwaffe lamp!!! (dated 1941)

Actually I could use it for my next BBQ :D . It is a local find, the man who gave it to me has its little "twin brother" in perfect condition with the glass inside. When you use a proper candle it enlightens a small room almost light like a light bulb and you can hang it in the wind it will still work. Even better you can detach the upper part and use it to warm your hands. The metal won't get too hot but just nice to make frezzing hands feel comfortable.
That must have been very useful during the cold winter days for the guard standing in the snow. I can imagine the guards using it to light their cigarettes too.
