Thanks--I could use the positive thumbs. :D And hopefully this summer--maybe I can have all three debts paid off--but I will settle for two and part of the third. [IMG] This will be the first time in about 6 or so years that i'm completely debt free. [IMG] I wonder what it feels like? [IMG]

Unfortunately the fakers are now active in the photo collecting world.Mostly i get mine by corresponding direct with the vets themselves, but do occasionally buy them and have recently seen a signed photo of SS RKT Alfred Siegling (died in 1984) which is obviously a fake.

The signature luckily was a very poor attempt and i do have copies of his original.

As a suggestion if anyone buys a photo they are not sure about from ebay or where ever why not post it here and hopefully someone on the forums will be able to authenticate it,

That sounds like a great idea--I second what Paul says.

Trouble is is that I can only verify signatures of the RKTs that I currently have. Maybe 20 or so different signatures...

I currently have about 400(i think!! i'll have to count them again)signed photos and have copies of quite a few more plus a copy of the Das Kreuz RKT photo reference book so i'm sure between us we should be able to authenticate many photos.

It's a shame that the fakers are getting involved in this area of collecting as well,

    Paul :D

Paul, good show ! received your fine package on Alois, Bodo, and yours/Heinz today.....excellent and a big thanks !

Paul that is an impressive collection of singed photos. mine is pretty loose ended with 9/10ths being Luftwaffe day and night fighter pilots but many of them are unknown aces or even crewmen along with some lengthy letters...... how do you catergorize them ? Individual branch of service or by alphabetical order-names- or ?
do you have them posted in frames or in a bio form in ringed binders ? / such as my collection

Carl hate to say this but I missed out on the e-bay KM Werner Töniges pic as I was gone on closing day. The pic went for US $ 22.00, what a steal !!......rats ! better luck next time.
Did win a rare pic of a Luftwaffe flak sergeant showing the lower left sleeve flak patch cuiing in a flak listening device. Looks quite interesting...

    Erich,

That's great i'm glad the package has got there and you like the photos,i especially enjoyed my meetings with both Bodo and Heinz who were both pleasant ,very approachable and talkative and were more than willing to answer my questions in my "Dodgy" German.Luckily their English is very good!! I must thank my good friend Steve from Chicago for the Camera work on the photo with Heinz Rokker and Frau Spranz for the one with Bodo.

I started my collection with mainly Waffen SS but have moved on to Heer mainly Panzer ,Sturmgeschutz and Panzerjager,Panzerknackers, with some Fallschirmjager,Luftwaffe and U-boats as well. This is due to there not being many Waffen SS RKT's left,so i am now contacting many Waffen SS DKiG EK1 EK11 Winners as well.

I keep all the photos in plastic sleeves in Ring binder files and catogorise them by Waffen SS Divisions,Army Panzer, Army Sturmgeschutz,Infanterie,Fallschirmjager,Jagdflieger,Luftwaffe Flak,U-Boats and so on.

I do have some in frames, mostly the ones i have corresponded with over a long period.

I must at this point say a big thankyou to our friend Carl Evans, whose interest in the RKT'S and Veterans got me started and without whose knowledge and expertise i would not have the collection and friendships with German Veterans i have today.

Wellllllll at least you did get something you wanted. $22.00 is a steal on that other pic.

I have one that is of an RKT that was taken during the wintertime somewhere in Russia. He is in the Luftwaffe but--I have no clue who he is/was. Not enough of him is showing to even give a good idea what his rank is/was.

Thank you Paul--Erich [IMG] You guys have helped me out greatly as well and I will owe you Paul even more grattitude on the tip on that book hopefully to be printed soon. That book will help me greatly in finishing or in the least--helping me make sure all the info I have is correct. I can hardly wait for this book and i'm anxious for that book--boy it will save me much much time on completing the project.

Erich--you have saved my bacon on much much info as well. I owe both you and Paul greatly on your help. [IMG]

Carl U have paid me back many times.....no sweat bud ! ;) :D [IMG]

Ok I must ask Paul what DK book title that he mentions..... ?

The pic I am purhcasing is rather small but excellent anyway, the chap is anybody's guess. Looking at another S-boot chap pic as well right now...and a dandy map of northern Germany which will aid the Nachtjagd research a ton.....

Carl, I think you will like the book when it does come. A little different than the D VII of course it is a different a/c altogether. Nice images of a/c and pilots....
B and N are a strange bunch at times. expect delays and the book is not OOP so it should be on it's way unless they feed U some baloney about ordering minimum's

Yup--and I have been round-n-round with a few people at B&N on several other titles before.

Thing is--is that I KNOW they can get my book in even if it is OOP BECAUSE I have had several OOPs in a long time ago and they easily got them in well--cept for one which did take more than 10 seconds on the phone to get. Now days, they don't give a crap and do not really put an effort into getting some of these harder-to-get books. [IMG] [IMG] :(

Case-in-point: I had them a few yrs ago--order me a copy of "The German Army Order of Battle 1944" book--hardbound and then cost about $30.00-$35.00. They had little problem in getting that book in--now they are just plain lazy.

Oh and try to find a copy of this book for under $150.00-$300.00

    The sound locator pic 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 came in today.
displayed with a Luftwaffe Unteroffizier or higher configuring the unit. Left side shows quite clearly his Flak embrodiered insignia on his lower left sleeve......fun !

Your getting some good pics there. I have so few that show awards and or insignia. One of my favorites though is one that shows about 15 or so Kriegsmarine Officers on the ship Lutzow. Most of them are wearing their Medal Bars. Is too cool. [IMG]
