By the way everyone if you are getting a little bored with SH3 you can download a free super mod called Grey Wolfs. Before I post the link I need to check with Otto if it's ok to post.

Otto has given me the green light so here's the link.

This mod re-writes a lot of the SH3 information so read carefully and check your specs as well. You can follow a link to Subsims where you can read more and there is info on SH3 & SH4 as well.

Well they may do after the release of SH4 as the result of this means that SH4 is the bag up to date version of the original Silent Hunter. And SH3 is the updated version of SH2; I hope they will finally update Destroyer Command. Let's hope so. [IMG]

Looks good but i dont think i will get it. Have SH3 and i find i'm not a very good Sub-Commander! Perhaps if i took some time and read one of those FAQs about sinking ships i might be a little better. Merchants are right down my alley.

When you get the hang of it Mussolini and become a great U-Boat captain then you can switch to GWX and that will blow your socks off, in the mean time good luck.

Dont get me wrong, i think the game is stunning in scope and in graphics. Sure, the models of the boats sinking eventually get a little repetitive, but who doesnt get a kick out of sinking an enemy ship?

I'll probably reinstall it and eventually DL the GWX Mod. I hear its a rather large mod though isnt it?

Sinking boats in the stock SH3 is dead easy and they go down fast in GWX they can go down fast or slow or take many hours. If you’re running SH3 with no problems you should be OK for GWX, I suspect you saw the manual on the other thread.

    Here it is again

Finally...back to where SH began...the Pacific!

Needless to say, I love sub history and sub sims! I am glad that SH4 is returning the original root of the "Silent Service."

I am looking forward to this title, but with slight apprehension since this sim has been on the fast track to release...never a good thing.

Subsim.com's First Look! Silent Hunter 4 has allayed my concerns somewhat, but the proof will be in the pudding.

Well give it time and some smart mod guys will beef it up, I for one am glad of the series coming full circle. Just one question or may be two questions will there be a SH5 and what will it be about?

Trust me, I will be getting SH4 as soon as it is released. Not going to wait for the modders to do their thing. I am anxious to get into the US subs as quickly as possible! I have been re-reading my copies of the war patrol reports of many of the famous and not-so-famous subs in anticipation! :D

I feel that next step is the design of multiplayer combat. (US sub player v. Japanese escort player; German u-boat player v. Allied escort player). :(

If the devs would listen to this one small voice, I would suggest making SH5 all inclusive...each major nationality with subs (Germans, British, Dutch, French, Italian, American, and Japanese) campaigning on a global scale.

From what I have read about SH4, we can sail into the Atlantic if we so desire. That seems a small step toward the above being possible. It would be a huge project but a vast amount of research and design has already been done (German and American sub designs, merchant and naval ships ). Tweaks would have to made with the German u-boats due to the change of game engines that had to be implemented for SH4 as well as research and design on the other nation's boats.

I had SH3...and liked it..but I found out the hard way..thay you need a pretty hefty Vid card to run it smoothly!...So I sold it....Now all this talk..makes me regret it...dam

But that multiplayer...Ger, UK, Jap, Us idea looks like a great idea!!! That would be a must buy for me!

I see Ubi has done the dirty again by releasing a game full of bugs and the patch as well has bugs. And it gets worst the game is to much like a penny arcade game and no real realism, never mind.

Well it now looks like I will hold off for a bit longer. Well we can hope the mod guys come along and rip the guts out of this game and put some realism in to it.

And some of the graphics are stock SH3, shocking. :eh:

More realism :radar: and less arcade :waffle:

I shall buy the game when it drops in price latter this year.

Thats a dissapointment compared to all the hype about it.

I've been thinking of getting that IL-2 game...the complete set...since air-combat sounds pretty fun to me. Doubt i would be very good at it but right now i am pretty broke (going to Italy set me back a lot).

New games will have to wait a while.
