Given to me by a lady in Normandy yesterday.

This silk cammo skirt was made with part of a 1944 RCAF parachute. Ths was recovered from a crash site by the lady herself during the war . It's quite well made and a true relic in perfect condition that will be a great addition to my collection

hmm with the right accessories, and a nice pair of high heels , the skirt could be a hit :)

talk about recycling - "going green" has a whole new meaning.

That was exactly the purpose those days Suzie, the girls in 1945 did not have a lot money for clothing, so a nice piece of silk was a Godsent and for those who knew how to sew, they happily recycled parachutes into skirts, dresses and even white wedding dresses.

You guys have hidden fantasies, when you come here you can wear it.
More seriously, the lady also told me she remembered making shirts with a white parachute she found . She will be checking her drawers and IF she finds something I might be able to show you mor ein the future.
