    I think Sepp Allerberger sighted in his rifle for 300 metres. Good compromise as most shots were closer (so hold under) or if over 300, hold over.

    Btw, Simo Häyhä, the Sniper in Winter War with 500+ kills did not use a scope. He considered you would have to keep your head higher with scope and would be an easier target yourself.
