Enjoying the spring sun, day drinking on a saturday with buddy. I have a largish yard with tall cedars, and a near lot with older growth trees. sitting on the deck with buddy, when the loud, overhead flight of a sparrow and a sparrow hawk chasing it, flew within feet pf our heads. sparrow, in desperation, flew into my covered walkway through an open man door. And promptly busted its neck into the wall...the hawk followed it into walkway and was able to avoid colliding with wall. but it was trapped, confused by the all the glass windows. its a cool video of me saddling up to scared raptor, and eventually shooing it out. ill try to get some stills.
yes, i have no stills. but- went to fill the bird bath and found a chicken bone and half a muffin in it...weird. so i blasted it out with hose and a crow became very upset and made a hell of a racket...probably put hard muffin/bone in there to soften them up. driving for coffee early- saw the largest gopher, it surprised me...then i thought it was a small cat...then it up and ran...damn, it was a marmot or woodchuck! huge with a big fluffy tail. dont see many of those around these parts. also have seen a 3.5 legged buck. must have tangled with a barbed wire fence. there is a video floating around of a police officer running over an injured deer in a residential neighborhood here. tried to kill it without shooting it. deer was screaming in pain. not good social media for the popo.
