Would like to know what the SS trooper said to the Ranger just before he shoved the bayonet into him. Thank you.

Thought so, but, like a lot of threads the "Primary" question soon fizzles out and gives way to other ones. It seems as if noone really knows what he said.
Of course I know what he said. He said it in German. I'm German. I can understand this language, really. Cheers,
Hes German ey - so I believe he knows what hes talking about. I'll just like to say when germans shout and order each other about in battle, don't they just sound waaaay cooler then any other. I'm british and proud but saying "Jawohl Herr Oberste" is better then "Yes sir" No? And that bit where the tank commander is telling them to flank the poisition, safe.
O.K. Herr Andy. I wasn't sure that you were sure since you said " . . . something to the effect of . . . " I stand corrected. Vielen Dank!
In that thread Carl commented on the haircuts of the german soldiers, I know some guys in the re-enactment group who were used as extras, actually they turned up with authentic haircuts as they do to many events but were not happy when they were asked to have their heads shaved for the film. There are a lot o strange bits in that film, like towards the end they must have been low on ammo or something because some of the german soldiers in one or two shots are just rocking back on their rifles and working the bolts without firing or ejecting anything. Also when they stick the 'sticky bombs' onto the wheels of the tanks you can see marks where the bombs have been applied in previous takes.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered about the shaved heads. I'm no German expert, but from the photos I see, Germans tended to have the haircut that carl was speaking of, with the top being quite long. I really wondered if there was some kind of hidden agenda with that, but figured I was being over-critical.
Doc, most people reckon it is part of Spielbergs hidden agenda to portray the Germans as nasty viscious murdering yada yada yada.
