Hi , I would be glad if anyone could name the officer shown in the attached picture. It is taken from "Uniforms, Organization and History of the Waffen SS - Vol. I";page 231; Bender & Taylor, San Jose 1971. As they say, the picture shows a doctor from 7th SS Mountain Division "Prinz Eugen", taken in the area of Mostar in 1943. Any information is highly appreciated! View attachment 15076
In Kaltenegger's "Mountain Troops of the Waffen-SS" this man is identified as Dr. Kirchner Interesting reversed SS runes. Have not seen that before

Regarding the reversed runes, we have a saying in Germany : "Es gibt nichts, was es nicht gibt!"...guess it would be something like "there is nothing, that does not exist" ;-) Actually, its very rare to have double runic collartabs but as steelhelmets with two runic shields, they existed. I guess it happened because of rather mundane reasons like supply shortages.
