SS Officer to identify..

    Hi ,

    I would be glad if anyone could name the officer shown in the attached picture.

    It is taken from "Uniforms, Organization and History of the Waffen SS - Vol. I";page 231; Bender & Taylor, San Jose 1971.

    As they say, the picture shows a doctor from 7th SS Mountain Division "Prinz Eugen", taken in the area of Mostar in 1943.

    Any information is highly appreciated!

    In Kaltenegger's "Mountain Troops of the Waffen-SS" this man is identified as Dr. Kirchner

    Interesting reversed SS runes. Have not seen that before

    Regarding the reversed runes, we have a saying in Germany : "Es gibt nichts, was es nicht gibt!"...guess it would be something like "there is nothing, that does not exist" ;-) Actually, its very rare to have double runic collartabs but as steelhelmets with two runic shields, they existed. I guess it happened because of rather mundane reasons like supply shortages.
