I was looking at a pic of a SS officer from a foreign country and he had the SS runes below his brest pocket. I can vaguely remember something about them not being allowed to wear the collar tabs since they weren't german, but I don't know. How come this guy was wearing the runes on his uniform?
I would not say this is totally correct. There were plenty of "non-German" units that bore the ss runes on their collars. The only branch that would not have them at all would be Heydrich's SD. Where the runes you are referring to inside a diamond shape patch?
The runes are below the left breast pocket of an SS obergruppenfuhrer. I cannot tell if it is a diamond, but do you have any idea what they could indicate?
Hello Panzergrenadier, the patch on his left breast pocket with the SS runes on it is square shaped and only means that he is also a police officer as well as being a member of the SS. Those were the only people to have the square SS runes patch.
Hey Ryan, glad to "see" you back here and quite true--I had forgotten about that you just retought me
