hello there and welcome to the forum

if you upload your photo to a site like "flicker"......it will sort out / resize the photo for you....then you can copy and paste the URL

(if it's your first time using flicker / or any of the other photo sites you will have to register an account with them first - it's free)

    hope this helps

It looks like a hand made cigar box which was probably made for an Officer. It could be trench art or a birthday present made by soldiers for a Superior or given by relatives. In this regard it's pretty unique and it's the first time I see this kind of box.

    THANKS SKIPPER
IT IS A VERY NICE BOX , AND QUITE LARGE IT MEASURES 10 INCH X 6 INCH
SO I SUPPOSE ITS THE RIGHT SIZE FOR CIGARS

Strongly reminiscent of a box for presentation copies of Mein Kampf I once saw at Beltring?

Similar size/style thing here (Scroll down):
    Ulric of England

There was a similar box to that making an appearence on War Rellic Forum . eu and they seemed to share the same opinion as VP.

I saw one of these for sale over on a site not long ago. Adam is correct its a presetation case for copies of Hitlers book.

One way to find to out is to find the size of an orignal Mein Kampf and compare. Besides the box could have had other purposes once the book was taken out and put on a shelve. What I like is the handmade aspect.

I'd too have to agree with VP - that's probably a Mein Kampf presentation box.

My copy of MK measures to be 8"x5" but there were different versions so...

hello terriertypething.. would it be impertinent to as you how and when you inherited this box. Can you tell me if it is valuable? when you give measurements are they the actuall box dimentions or the sixes of the top. I would appreciate if you could take a few more good pics and post them.
are there any dates or other markings (Maker name)on this?

Its a Mein Kampf presentation box for shure Terrier .
Seen those more often . Common are the ones in just plain oak wood ,
this one was propably given to a SS officer as a party gift .
Had a look at the way its carved and I have no doubts whatsoever its genuine .
Theyre not overly expensive moneywise ,most collectors haven't got a clue what they are ,so they don't always sell that easily .
Does the underside bear any visible markings ? Sometimes youll find a single letter scratched or stamped in near a corner with puchmark . Think its an interesting box though ,if you ever consider parting from it give me a PM ,I have a thing for old nazi woodworx :)

Couldnt help smiling reading the WAF articles referred to and seeing the paper sticker on the back of the casing in the pics there ..described as 'Coffin of SS man' ;-)

This is the genuine box all right. Purpose not entirely recognized, but most often attributed to contain a copy of Mein Mampf.
