Hello everyone, I just picked up my first Stackpole book over the weekend Arnhem 1944: The Airborne Battle.
I was afraid it would be too dense and detailed for me to read but its really easy, especially compared to the Osprey Campaign series I've read a few of. Anyone else's thoughts?

I like Stackpole books very much and have many on my shelves. They specialize in reprinting titles which have previously been published by specialist publishers ( eg J J Federowicz ) or in very limited quantities ( eg Hans Wijers' series on the Bulge ). Although the quality of photos etc isn't fantastic, they give enthusiasts the chance to own rare titles at very reasonable cost.

I had a bad start with Stackpole, as I bought Kurowski's execrable 'Panzer Aces 1&2' first (Barbara Cartland for the 3rd Reich... Steely, steely, steely.), and they left a bad taste in the mouth.
Since then I've realised they turn out some cracking cheap editions of worthwhile stuff.
(And their current run of free ebook/Kindle promotions is well worth keeping an eye on - I'm hoping 'Colossal Cracks' & 'Iron Arm' show up there soon, but I'm not holding my breath.)

Some of the Federowicz's are out of print/unaffordable now (for a treat I got SchwPzjgr 654 for £100!) and they provide a good cheap alternative with reprints (Meyer's 12th SS is staggeringly good) and as stated above more are coming onto Kindle. Beware though some are not as easy reads as others.

    I love Elefants and Ferdinands.
