Stained glass was a beautiful medium used by many churches to honour our air force veterans. Check out some examples on my Wartime Wednesdays blog today. http://elinorflorence.com/blog/118116
Great blog and some of the windows I wasn't aware of. Do you know the Faldingworth one dedicated to 300 squadron ? http://www.davids-airfield-memorials.com/lincolnshire-2#!__lincolnshire-2
There is a village church in Moreton Dorset, that was bombed when a fleeing bomber unloaded his bombs. When the church was rebuilt, the artist Whistler had plain glass put into the church windows and etched them with beautiful scenes. A delightful little church with the most beautiful windows. Moreton is where Lawrence of Arabia is buried. Its worth a visit if in the vicinity. The windows are a delight.
And since I am new to this, I don't know how to reply to you individually - or is this the best way to do it?
I followed up and posted something about Moreton, Dorset on my blog today at www.elinorflorence.com/blog/118330. Thanks, everyone!
