    All,

Does anyone have a station list for US Army stations (not Air) in the UK circa 1943-44?

I’m trying to identify Station-112 in Wales. It was used by the 2nd Infantry Division just prior to embarkation for Normandy. But more station numbers will undoubtedly come up, as the unit was previously in Northern Ireland.

    Thank you.
    J

Sorry, but that is curious, what is your reference for it. The U.S. Army Ground Forces units in the ETOUSA did not number its locations in its Station List, instead they were given by place name and map reference. "Station 112" would be a USAAF - United States Army Air Force Station - since they were numbered. 112 was Bovingdon in Hertfordshire.

As of 1 June 1944, the 2d Infantry Division deployments were:

HQ, 2d Inf Div – Tenby, Pembridgeshire (Pembs)
HQ Det, Spec Trs, 2d Inf Div

    Richard,

Do you have the locations for the 30th ID, the 743rd TB, 823rd TD, 448th AAA?

If so, would you post them for me?

It appears to be from the US Army Institute of History-
"QWNED, SPONSORED J/;’ AND LEASED FACILITIES, 31 DECEMBER 1945" by the Office of Chief of Engineers. It's vast, and might be purely stateside though.

    I appreciate this info.

The subject of my book went on leave to Paris with some men from the TD and TB units and i was interested in their locations.

    Another question, Richard.

Do you have a way determine the location of a unit or units in defined area?

Specifically, I am looking for Colored units, probably a supply, service, or transportation company near Dropmore, or at least within driving distance.

There were none at Dropmore, that was only the location of two 30th Inf Div units on 1 June. Given there were about 752 "Colored" units in the ETOUSA, not including those assigned to the USAAF, as of 1 June 1944, it would be hard to pinpoint who it might be without more information. The area around Dropmore, the far southeastern corner of Buckinghamshire, was part of District VIII of the Western Base Section of SOS, ETOUSA. Sorry.

    Thanks, Richard.

June1st would not be the day in question, but I suspect it was several months earlier and I do not know the exact time.
My request concerns an incident the subject of my book mentioned, but was not included in the manuscript. He did not say exactly when or where it was and I was fishing for some possibilities.
He never mentioned Dropmore and I am fairly sure he did not know where he was in early June, as he said they were in confined to a fenced area and not allowed outside. It is good to know that is probably where they were before they drove down to embark for Normandy.

Harrison's Cross-Chanel Attack is a good place to start grubbing for breadcrumbs. Available on CMH website or Hyperwar.

What day are you looking for? The ETOUSA Station Lists are available for February through August (IIRC) 1944 and possibly other months. Any more details of the story would help.

It sounds like you described a Sausage Camp, which were the pre-embarkation camps.

Yes, he was in a sausage camp leading up to June 6.
It has been 15 years since we talked and I don't remember him mentioning an exact date outside of sometime in the spring of 1944.
I would have to go back listen to the audio recordings (40+hrs), as I did not include the incident in the book.
