It learned that it was not superior as it thought it was in Korea. It learned how to fight a defensive war the hard way. Organized withdrawals were learned on the job. Unfortunately, it did not learn from the Germans. Things got worse in Vietnam. Fighting a war with no goals. Capabilities were limited. Unconventional warfare. But, after 35 yrs, it began the evolution that turn the US military into what it is today... a refined fighting machine. ------------------ "They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. Do you think that the US could handle an invasion by any country? I'm just thinking it hasnt happened in over 200 years (Revolutionary War).
I can't see any nation getting an invasion fleet to US shores intact, never mind have success on the mainland.
It could only happen from the south and we would have enough advanced notice that we would be prepared for it. Only surprise invasion would be nukes. ------------------ "They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. I don't think anyone could invade the US successfully because most main countries from Europe or Asia would either have to attack from the Atlantic or Pacific and go all the way across. That would take days and our fighters would have beaten them severely by then.
