    The tale of a German plane - the six-engined Ju390 - flying to New York apparently originated with a POW trying to impress his interrogators. There were only two JU390s ever built, and neither was in France at the time of the alleged flight.

    Sorry to drag up an old thread, but mention was made of launching the V2 from Uboats - the Germans did have this idea

    I recall in one Skorzeny book that Himmler was just presenting one of his famous "ideas in the air" which Skorzeny, neither a navy nor a rocket man, immediately dismissed as not feasible.

    There was a way the Germans could have made an aerial attack on the US. It wouldn't have been much more than some random bombing causing a panic, but it would have worked. Best for the 'what-if' section however...
