    Hello,
I have a pamphlet from my grandfather who served in WW2. Perhaps someone will be able to use this for their genealogy/etc.
I was hoping to upload the photos here but the files are too large and they end up not looking so nice if I made it lower resolution. So here is the trascribed pamphlet and at the end is the link to the actual pamphlet that I scanned in.

    THE FIGHTING FIRST

    18th Regiment, 1st Battalion, A Company

    Schloss Schwarzenberg (under photo)

    July 4th 1945

    DUTY FIRST

To the members of Company 'A' who have lived, fought and marched together; I heartily commend the fine spirit of cooperation and loyalty which you have shown toward one another. I think you are the finest group of fighting men in the U. S. forces.

Be thankful that we can celebrate this 169th anniversary of Independence Day without the sound of battle in our ears; and remember to pay tribute to those who gave their all so that we might enjoy, just this.

    CLEMENT C. VAN WAGONER,
    Capt. 18th Inf.
    Commanding.

This is wonderful! My grandfather served in the 18th Regiment, but he was Company L. I wasn't aware things like this existed. He returned home from the war with nothing after being shot and his possessions... 'commandeered'... by other residents from the hospital he was taken to. I would love to find a similar pamphlet for Company L.

    Thank you for sharing!
