Supperb! You're actually seeing Winston on the screen! Albert Finnley is excellent! Vanessa Redgrave is also wonderful! Really well-made film. The best scene is the first one at Blenheim, when Winston Churchill meets John Churchill's eyes! Strongly recommend it!
Truly is an amazing film, Albert Finney's representation of Churchill is amazing, never seen anything like it. Sadly it doesn't show Churchill becomming PM, but it is intresting to learn about Churchills pre-war years, and it's quite a recent film. The acting though is brilliant, first class.
Kai, if you're referring to the fil "The gathering storm" your answer for both question is yes! Romantic dramas? Of course they had to portray the immortal love between Winston and Clemmie. And the main issue of the whole film is those bloody Germans rearming...
Any warm feelings towards the Germans in any way? http://www.fff.org/comment/com0310j.asp In his book Adolf Hitler, John Toland points out, Churchill had once paid a grudging compliment to the Führer in a letter to the Times: “I have always said that I hoped if Great Britain were beaten in a war we should find a Hitler who would lead us back to our rightful place among nations.” Or a hindsight movie 100%?
