Revealed: The secret report that shows how the Nazis planned a Fourth Reich ...in the EU | Mail Online The document, also known as the Red House Report, is a detailed account of a secret meeting at the Maison Rouge Hotel in Strasbourg on August 10, 1944. There, Nazi officials ordered an elite group of German industrialists to plan for Germany's post-war recovery, prepare for the Nazis' return to power and work for a 'strong German empire'. In other words: the Fourth Reich.
Kai-Petri, if anything, I would think the historical interest of this document is that it is evidence that the Nazis realized something simple like the "stabbed in the back" myth would not wash the next time around, and that more stealthy ways of recovering power would have to be attempted. I doubt the Nazi plotters could have anticipated that Germany would remain divided for 45 years, or the economic paths that the BRD and DDR took postwar. Not to mention the distortions in global power relationships caused by atomic weapons. Germany has indeed re-emerged as a key player on the European scene but certainly not because of any Nazi schemes like the Maison Rouge meeting. Maison Rouge . . . heh, that name also has another Second World War resonance. And so, a riddle - the red house is linked to a rock and a French river. Why are the three objects linked ? Cheers BW
Indeed BW, and if I remember correctly the Germans had realized after WW1 how they should not keep the money in their country but buy parts of companies etc all around the world in the 20´s and 30´s. So this plan in a way does not come as a suprise or a late-phase emergency plan.
i don;t fully understand, why wuold thee nazi's plan a 4th reinch, when the nazi's really thought thee thrid reich was going to be huge and powerful on it;s own!
Hiedi, it's because these men knew germany was going to lose this "current war" and hence "3rd reich" and so were planing for the next time round......."when you fall off the horse, ya got to get back on".
Well Rich, that was the intention of Hitler and even Churchill if we take their writings and beliefs to their ultimate ending. But its the means to the gate in the road...It was all about the getting there. Some may say we have a system much akin to what Hitler alluded to, and Churchill presented for the low countries after the war...Just that Hitler wanted it based on German leadership with others eventually fitting in around it on Germany's beneficial terms and with a dirty big Swastika sticking out. So I do actually agree with you on that, but not on the present politics of it. I.E a dirty big swastika instead of a lot of nice stars and even better expense accounts.
The guy who wrote the article is also pushing a novel based on this story and you have to take that into account...for sure the SS and alot of other big shot Nazis hid alot of money and gold, in switzerland and other places abroad, for a long time before wars end. But mainly wouldnt you think it was for their own personal survival and not to establish some "4th Reich"? The closest thing to it was the Odessa network, the secret SS group that funnelled important Nazi and SS people out of the country to Brazil, Argentina and several other friendly countries. The Israelis did not forgive nor forget after the war and kidnapped and executed many of these former Nazis in the 50's up through today. The likelihood of a 4th Reich ever happening again is extremely unlikely! The Germans and allies took many steps to erase the Nazi legacy and ideology entirely and did a good job. Most modern Germans consider their 12 years of Nazi history to be an abberation and look on it with repugnance - do you think the Russians would have allowed East and West Germany to reunite if they thought there was the slightest chance of a "4th Reich"?
He wrote it during the Cold War, referring to East and West Germany. As a Frenchman, he preferred to see Germany divided rather than united. Cheers BW
True, since swastikas were banned (and would be a total giveaway in Europe), the "4th Reich" could be disguesed as a number of eurpoean organizations.
I recall the nazis also shipped quite alot of gold and money to South America, where most of them also lived after the war. I believe this was done in good time before the war ended. So the ODESSA had a direction where to send their SS men after 1945. It also seems the route went through Italy, so they had good connections there.
I have known several young Germans and they strongly believe either rightly or wrongly that Nazism is still the way to go for Germany, they want their German Empire back in it's entirity, not only that they want certain foreign workers out. I have read a story many years back that something like 35% of Germans under the age of 30 are Nazi sympathisers and that the numbers are growing. v.R
