Many months ago, as a one of my hobbies are the meteorological matters, I locate an interesting document, who talking about these themes. The meteororological war, is a question very interesting in wich both bands, German & Allies (by Intelligency, of course) received data about the meteorological conditions. This in a resume, but note that inside a reference from a book who explains in detailed form all the knowledge about this themes: http://www.international.icomos.org/madrid2002/actas/39.pdf

I found an interesting article in PDF:
The development and use of weather buoys 1940-2005
John A. Kington Climatic Research Unit, University of East Anglia, UK

Franz Selinger Obering, i. R., Ulm, Germany

If you are interested in these themes, and understand Spanish -you could will translate online-, In U-Historia you find an article about these matters. Follow this route: http://www.u-historia.com > Historia > Artículos Históricos > Meteorología en la Guerra Submarina.

I'm a collaborator of U-Historia webpage from many years

Among the findings that I found, there is one I'd like to share. This is an article from a German newspaper, Südwest Press, Ulm, presented to its readers to a most illustrious citizen, Dr. Selinger which has now 94 years old and their research task:

Also shows a meteorological station located in 1943 in Spitzbergen.

Please, Erich, do you explain to us what is the content of this article? Anything of interest?

The pages 163-166 of this book, also is an interesting lecture -about WFL-26-:
