So we're starting a Forums Clan for multiple Online games. Starting with COD and COD: UO (Call of Duty: United Offensive)!

The name of the clan is: der PanzerPenguins!

    Example: <|dPP|>PanzerPenguin

You have to be Forums Member to join the clan. Respond here if interested.

[dPP] is in Green (in COD/UO you press Shift + 6 then you press 2 to get the color Green) followed by your NAME in Gray (Shift + 6 then 7).

Otto and I will be working on a website to make the clan more Official.

Are you going to join a league
I ran a ET clan before & it can be hard work , but lots of fun :D
I do think that COD is a bit long in the tooth now:eek: , but COD4 looks good for MP

A WWII Gaming clan what this is, no real plans to join any leagues yet. The focus is more on getting together occasionally to blow each other up. :explosion1: We will at some point have out own dedicated gaming server as well.

Any WWII games are potential targets, currently Call of Duty and CoD: United Offensive are the only ones on the list because it is so darn cheap, it won't tax your system to heavily, and the multiplayer options are vast. More games will be added in time.

Thanks Mussolini for this great idea. :mattc:

Count me in, I am currently on COD2 but somehow the maps and other aspects seem better in COD and UO.

Otto and I plan on playing COD: UO around 6 PM EST tonight. If anyone else is interested, let us know! I can be reached on AIM: Silvestine

I love COD too! Especially Rifles Only servers (no nades etc).

Anyone have Red Orchestra? Or Day of Defeat? I'm going to change my handles in those games to how it appears in COD/UO.

You can buy COD with UO for $30 from BestBuy/Amazon/GameStop. Its the Game of the Year Deluxe Edition. So its all patched etc and ready for you to play. It a slightly older game, so doesn't tax your system at all!

I think its won over 80 Game of the Year Awards from various websites/magazines when it first came out.

I think most people prefer COD/UO MP over CoD2 etc. I've been playing it since COD has been out and the top servers are always full. The graphics are still pretty good even today, and most computers should be able to run them with out a hitch. Part of why its still popular i imagine.

We'll work on a list of games we have, a CoC, and all that other lovely stuff.

    Games we play online:

    Call of Duty
Call of Duty: United Offensive (Expansion Pack)

    Day of Defeat Source
    Counter-Strike Source

Red Orchestra (well worth the $15 it costs - most realistic WWII game i have played)

Guys this sounds great. Several questions to ask:

    1) Is it TR?
    2) Is it ranked/realistic?

Just to explain. I am a staff member of the biggest online TR (TR explained later) league for CoD2. It is called ETO (European Theatre of Operations). Website is:
European Theater of Operations - ForumNews

This is what I wrote for a TR Unit (in TR they are called Units and not Clans) ages ago:
TR stands for Tactical Realism. This means that on TR servers you cannot do things such as jump out of 2 story windows, you move slower than normally to represent all the equipment you are carrying, you have to work in squads, you have to aim down the sights, there is a certain number of certain weapons available to each team - generally 1 MG, 1 smg, 1 sniper, 2 semi-auto rifles (except when playing American as the m1 is semi-auto, so the m1a1 carbine counts as the semi-auto). The point of it is to try and play more realistically than the normal 'run n' gun' servers. Another requirement is Teamspeak or Ventrilo (TS or Vent) these are used so that during matches teams mates can communicate 'over the radio' telling each other of troop movements and such.

Most TR clans (or units as TR players call them) have realistic names, for example there is an 82nd Airborne Division, a 1st Infantry Division, a 1st Fallschirmjager Regiment etc.

There is also a big TR league called ETO (guess what it stands for ). It has small tournaments and every about year it does a big re-enactment of a WW2 campaign. This years one (which is about to start) is called Operation Market Garden. The two sides will fight over key areas that were in the real Market Garden offensive.

    [FONT=&quot]Some FAQ’s

Q: What's up with the servers sights, they suck!

A: Its the TR mod we’ve chosen to run, if you don’t like it get lost.

Q: Why am I running like Rick Waller?

A: Its TR, you would be carrying a huge amount of war gear, so chances are you actually weigh the same as Rick Waller.

Q: What the hell is TR?

A: It stands for Tactical Realism, its a style of play, devoting time to using tactics and playing as you would in real life, to the best extent of the game.

    Q: What is aiming?

A: Get out of my server.

    Q: What is spraying?

A: Shooting with your sights down.

Q: What is a spray whore?

A: A person that sprays too often, its an insult.

    Q: WTF are assigned weapons?

A: In ETO (The major TR league) we are limited to what guns we can use, usually they are
2 smgs 2 secondary infantry rifles 1 sniper, therefore we want everyone to use a primary infantry weapon to the best of their ability.

Q: Holy shit d00d WTF is primary and secondary infantry weapons???

A: A primary weapon would be a weapon that was the most widely used among the armies of WW2 for example:

    Lee Enfield
    Kar98
    M1 Garand
    Mosin Nagant

A secondary infantry weapon would be one of those weapons that are counted as more rare than primary weapons but still widely used, examples:

    Gewher 43
    M1a1 Carbine
    Tokaratev STV
M1 for Brits in this game, but as to how accurate that is to real life I’m not so sure.

    Q: What is ETO?

A: European Theatre of Operations, its a TR League, not like the Hop and Spray TWL CAL or CB leagues. European Theater of Operations - ForumNews

    Q: !?#@WTF#'?! is BTT?

A: Basic Tactical Training. All TR clans do this it is when you train and are on probation.

    Q: Is it over yet?

A: Yes. Yes it is. Until I find some more.

    Feel free to post questions

*EDITED TO ADD* Their are also TR leagues for Day of Defeat and Red Orchestra. Although most leagues have moved on from CoD and CoD: UO many units still play it to keep TR alive within that game.

I like TR to a certain extent. One thing i disagree with is movement speed. Units would shed most of their gear during such an operation or they wouldn't be carrying 80lbs of gear like modern day units do. If you're being shot at, you can easily find the strength to run fast. If you're on a commando style raid, you'll be packing light and traveling fast. I realize it would be impossible to change the speeds for every map, but thats what i dont like about TR.

Kit weighs a lot more than perhaps you think Mussolini. I have done it both in modern and WW2 kit. When you have your weapon, belt kit full of ammo plus some food, waterbottle etc then (especially if it is a hot day) it is actually very hard. Yeh do you move slightly faster under fire (the closest I have been is under simulated morter fire using big pyro explosions right next to us) but you don't suddenly have the ability to run at 100 Mph. This applies to both old kit (often heavier than modern kit) and the modern stuff.

So are TR servers modded so everyone moves at the same pace?
    What about hopping and flopping?
Are you allowed to fire from the hip?

Nice thing about RO is that it already limits how many of each type of weapon are allowed, based on number of people on each time so majority end up with Rifles.

The basic realism Mod (WRM) everyong moves the same, but in the newer, more advanced Mod's then yes they move at different speeds.

Again depends on the Mod. In most you cannot jump high (as in RO) but on the Mod's that you can jump high you often get kicked for bunny hopping.

No this 'Running and Gunning' or RnG is frowned upon and in my League is against the rules of play (our rules are used by almost all of the TR unit's).

Hmm....I think firing from the hip with a SMG should be allowable, but only in house-to-house fighting situations. I think thats a pretty realistic assessment. Rifles can really only be fired by aiming down the sights.

I take it there arent any TR on COD/UO anymore then?

There are no Leagues that cater for TR Cod/UO but many TR units have a CoD/UO section as both games were so good.

You have to aim down the sights unless 'spooked' which means when you suddenly go round a corner and bump into an enemy, or if you are a sniper in close combat situations.

Well, lets get back on topic as far as this thread goes.

The Clan will be open to any MP game. The ones already listed are the ones that i have and will be playing.

There must be others of you out there who play these games? Nothing binding or serious, its just for fun at this point. It'd be nice to get to play with you gents some time! Don't leave Me, Otto, and der PanzerPenguin hanging!
