Does anyone know the significance of the white patch on the sleeve of the officer leading the parade (2nd photo).

Looks like a map tucked into the folded cuff.

I started to scan the second tray of color slides. I spent a few minutes cleaning each of them up. It seems they are a mix of Russia, Normandy and being home. Always interested in hearing your feedback.

Do these pictures have any names or dates on the back by chance?

Unfortunately they are slides and they do not have any names or dates.

That is a shame.......but it does add a special reverence to the photos not knowing these gents names..........just a few men who have found themselves in the generation marked for death.......

Last of the second tray. I probably have over 3K personnel photographs in my collection but these color slides have really mesmerized me when viewing. Not sure if it is just me but it truly adds a different perspective.

The ordinariness of these photos is what makes them stand out. Most of these soldiers were just men; they had wives, sweethearts, families, and plans for the future. Unfortunately, their leadership and some of their mates were evil. Their cause was corrupt, although they didn't understand that.

I started scanning the next tray of colored slides. Again I am spending minimal time "cleaning" up the photo. Some interesting shots by the unknown photographer.

The German WW2 Armies did history a real favour by allowing/encouraging personal cameras to be carried.
Pretty sure verboten for British blokes (if not too rigorously enforced), but thinking about it I don't know who was allowed cameras, or when, in other forces.
Were American servicemen technically allowed to take a camera? Seems to be the same somewhat smaller amount of personal unofficial but actually in-service pictures for them as for the UK.

This is the last tray of one of the towers. I must admit as I am scanning this group I almost feel like I am looking at someone's vacations pictures. Whoever was taking the pictures did not have a shortage of film.

IMG_0005x.jpg The last small group wraps up the color slides. There still about 25 more but they are mostly duplicates and scenery. I still have three towers that are filled with B&W slides and I have posted some that were mixed in with the first group. They also seem very interesting and always interested in feedback.

Any guesses on where these were taken and what the wrecked armored vehicle was?

I thought I would continue to scan and post the B&W slides. Hopefully there still is an interest even though they are not color. I did some quick enhancements with the lighting,
