Tamiya has moved on from producing aircraft accessories to real tanks in 1/48 scale. Their first, a Tiger I ( early model ), will be released in November.

That's becoming pretty big! But why a tiger early version? Of all tanks! :-?

Well, knowing Tamiya, it had to be either a Panther, Tiger I or Tiger II.

I hope they follow up this range, and that other brands do so as well. 1/72 has allways been too small for my taste, but 1/48 might just be the thing for me. Does anybody know if there are other 1/48 scale armour kits available ? I know Academy have a few, but no WWII armour I´m aware of.

Yeah, you're pretty much right there.

Don't you think that a collection of 1/48 scale models would grow out of the house concerning the space it claims? I for one already have trouble stowing my 1/72 model collection properly!

I usually model in 1/35 scale, so changing to 1/48 would actually be a step in the right direction regarding any stowage problems.

Anyway, most of my finished models are displayed at the local museum of technology.

 you did that pretty well...
My own room seems to be turning into a small museum with all those models. I actually should see to it that people pay me if they want to enter  :D

    More treats from Tamiya !

Two further additions to their 1/48 scale AFV line-up have been announced. An M4 Sherman to be released in December, and a Stug III Ausf. B to be released in January.

    Yummi !

Well, the Sherman was predictable, but the StugIII B, I didn't see that one coming. :)
