I've seen "What are you Eating?", "What are you drinking?", "What are you watching?" and others but I don't think I have seen this one. My playlist tonight is: Because the Night (Patty Smith) For What its Worth (Buffalo Springfield) See a Little Light (Bob Mould) Taillights Fade (Buffalo Tom) Black Metallic (Catharine Wheel) Clampdown (Clash) Epic (Faith No More) The Lightning Storm (Flogging Molly) Hate Gives Me a Warm Tingly Feeling (Miles Dethmuffen) The night is young so there will be dozens more but you get the idea. Post playlists, albums, artists or however you want to characterize your listening pleasure of the moment.
Barry Manilow-Could it Be Magic/Mandy (Lia's favorite-how we met-I played it for her) Journey-Faithfully (What I played when I proposed to her) Neil Young-Keep on Rockin in the Free World (you should see Lia rip this on guitar-AWESOME!!) Cheap Trick-Ain't it a Shame/I Want You to Want Me/Surrender
At the moment: TranceFM your Trance radio station. While stirring up political @%^@^ on several boards other than this one and drinking a Dogfish Head beer. Pretty good for a guy over 50! Just remember, You cannot help growing old but you can never grow up! Or, put another way: Youth is fleeting but immaturity can last a lifetime!
"Youth is fleeting but immaturity can last a lifetime!" That is the best quote I have seen in years ! Maybe you can write a song to match it. I go for the old stuff from the 60's such as The Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Jefferson Airplane and Roky Erickson of the 13th Floor Elevators, Fairport Convention with Sandy Denny. Also I like Enya and new wave stuff. Patti Smith does a good version of Gloria !
Whereas I am extremely weird in that as an "old dude" I love electroncia, trance and, and other synthetic music and I have all these friends and aquantiances my age that are stunned by the quality, originality and, uniqueness of the music I choose. The rave set and younger crowd just think I'm a spy or something. Either way I can enjoy not being part of the herd.
At the moment i'm not listening to anything, but tomorrow i'll be stood with countless thousands of other people in Manchester, watching and listening to R.E.M. in concert I just hope the 'good old British weather' is favourable...
I'll be damned! It works even here in Norway! Cool music, T.A... Thanx for the tip! RAM..another old dude.
I've been listening to a concert in Sydney to mark the centenary of the arrival of the Great White Fleet there. The bands of the RAN and the American Pacific Fleet played the music. Needless to say the programme had a distinctive naval taste to it! You couldn't buy tickets for this for love nor money. It was sold out about 2 hours after tickets went on sale. When the Fleet arrived in 1908 almost the entire population of Sydney turned out to greet them. Similar crowds greeted them in Melbourne and Perth. This event marked the start of an affair with the USA that grew and grew, reaching the giddy heights it is at today. The centenary was marked by the arrival of the USS McCain in Sydney. No, not named for the Presidential hopeful. Rather for his father I gather. It might also have been named for his grandfather. I'm not too sure about that. Do I have to add that the quality of the playing was outstanding? They played everything from Sousa to Vaughan Williams.
Lucky Dog. I'm listening to a folder of MP3 entitled 70s Rock E-N (about 775 songs, I won't hear them all tonight). Right now it is on Paradise By The Dashboard Lights, by Meatloaf. Squeeze play at home...did he make it, or did he just sleep on it?
Around 2001/2002, he cut Bat Out of Hell 2, and it was very good. He toured for a couple of years after that, but most recently he's been on Broadway (I forget the play).
Mr. Loaf is still performing. He was also on a cellphone service TV commercial this summer, sorta making fun of Paradise.
Kid rocks album Rock N Roll Jesus but i am waiting with great anticapation the release on sep 12th of Death Magnetic by METALLICA
I listen to many different things, I have satelite radio, so everything from Adam and The Ants to The Green Hornet Radio Show! But mostly I really like the 80's stuff!
Just picking myself up off the floor after reading that T.A. likes Trance. (I was somehow expecting recordings of naval guns firing. ) Always fun not to follow the herd. Today I have mostly been listening to Violator - Depeche Mode, The Pirate's gospel - Alela diane, The Raconteurs - whatever those 2 albums are called. On a mate's delightful new Arcam system, of which I am hugely jealous . Cheers, Adam.
