Big croc caught in the Nitmiluk National Park this week...around 4 meters... Snappy saltie a big catch for gorge Not the biggest around however... The crocs are fully protected in the Territory...most crocs aren't killed but taken to croc farms to retire...and given a bevvy of beauties to breed with...or a big male if shes a female. If their snouts are taped then they are still alive. Some really weird $hit happens in the Territory, I intend to keep you all informed...hope you enjoy maties!
The head on one of those looks to be over a meter itself. Judging by the porportions that would put some of them well over 5m. My eye could be off though.
The nearest I got to a croc was in the Cairns Casino Hotel on the top floor. I was pretty horrified at the smell and state of the animals held there and thought it a very cruel practice.
Do you know how to tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile? . . . When saying goodbye, the gator will see you later, while the croc will see you after a while. I'll get my hat.
Do you know how to tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile? Yeah you can swim with gators, they are slow and mellow...alligators are cool dudes....Saltwater Crocs are super aggressive...take you in a heart beat. Have the strongest bight of any animal...alive or dead. Freshwater crocs are mellow too...can physically only eat fish, so you can swim with them... Even the frogs like "freshies"...
Haha...you're actually probably right! Its a hurricane...and it might turn in the opposite direction...Since Cyclone Tracey houses have been coded to meet the standard of staying intact during a category 2 cyclone (That means solid concrete including concrete internal walls.)...Tracey was a Cat 3 though...we want this to hit land and come in as soon as possible so it doesn't have time to build up out at sea.
We used to swim in a pool created by a waterfall in Queensland, as we also camped there at night, we could hear the croc's that were also swimming there. They kind of bark like dogs if I remember correctly. Maybe CAC can correct me or confirm my memory. KTK
The little ones bark like that...little babies...so cute. But be careful, they are calling Mum... Some falls in the NT... Edith falls... Twin Falls... Etc etc etc...! Too many to show...These are usually too high and too clear for any saltwater crocs to get to...so they are perfect for a cooling dip.
So Cyclone Marcus has come and gone...I was expecting the broken branches but not the amount of uprooted trees...heaps down. As cyclones go it wasn't too bad...rudely, they are predicting another cyclone possibly in the next few days...possibly cat 4-5. Not cool...
Ouch ! Sorry you're so far away, I'd bring the chainsaw and tractor to help ya clean up the mess. Getting a new car ?
I bet you would too...the sounds of chainsaws are ringing as I type! Government is closed today...but I work for Power and Water! D'oh!
Looks like the Gulf Coast, with that damage. Glad you and yours are safe. Batten down the hatches for the next blow.
Just got home from work...driving into my street, and f##k me dead if I’m lieing...I see a mustard coloured Humvee...and then a bunch of Marines! In my street! The legends are helping to clean up my street...such a thrill.
Darwin set for major US Marine intake More Marines in Darwin. Not sure why they don't issue short sleeved tops if they are going to allow them to be rolled up...major rolling every morning!
When the Airwing Commandant (Amos) did away with rolled sleeves the Fleet Marines hated it and they let him know. They pestered him until he reversed himself and they got to roll their sleeves again and morale skyrocketed. It's a Marine thing.
