Trying to find information about a Canadian soldier (dog tag surfaced in Belgium)

    Dog tag reads :
    GNR E.L. SMITH
    F-58060
    BAPT.CDN

    What I found till now : 'gunner', service number is of the 'Nova Scotia Military District', denomination 'Baptist'.
    The service number however doesn't fit in the range of numbers attributed to the Nova Scotia district.

    Anybody any clues as to where more detailed information can be found ?

    What I'm looking for : to which regiment he belonged, did he survive the war ?
