    LOL!

trouble is, I think they would, especially with all the fuss about him going on trial and all.

I wonder what would happen though...
He'd propably pull a host of WMD out of the sand somewhere and chuck them all at anybody he could reach... ;)

You have to look beyond the mainstream news media to find out the full story. Neither CNN nor BBC is likely to tell you that:

There are still many difficult days ahead for Iraq and it could very well turn out that it was all for naught and they slip back into near-anarchy ala Lebanon. It is too soon to write Iraq off as a failure though. If we can extricate US and coalition forces and the Iraqis manage to hold on to the gains made both in infrastructure and politically they will be much better off than before the war and for that matter much better off than most other countries in the region. Time will tell.

Sure Ricky. Those facts came from this site:

    http://www.kmax.ws/b/goodnewsiniraq.htm

which also has some links to other sites which promote good news from Iraq.

It's interesting to see that some British military leaders are saying that the country is "closer to civil war than ever before", while the majority of American troops think that they should leave Iraq before 2007, with over 25% saying they should leave immediately.* It might not be a failure yet, but it is not far off...

What would the Allied soldiers have said who were fighting the Germans in 1944 had they been asked? I would imagine they would have wished to go home as soon as possible also, or the Russian soldiers fighting on the Eastern front? Nobody asked them.

As to whether or not the invasion of Iraq is a failure ultimately history will judge.

I wonder what the chances are of there being a resolution between Iran and the United States on the subject of Iraq. Both have a common interest in that country: national security. Washington fears Iraq falling into extermist hands where it may then become a terrorist breeding ground and staging point for terrorism across the globe. Tehran does not want to see Iraq fall to the same fate (especially since the majority of insurgents in Iraq are Sunni), as they share a rather large border. Furthermore, Iran has cultural and religious ties with Iraq, being that Muslims in both countries are predominately Shiite.

I have a subscription to Foreign Affairs, which is a great magazine, and in the latest edition (July/August) it included an article on the social and political rise of Shiites. According to this article, Iran has sent $1 billion USD to Iraq in trade and industry deals. Electricity deals and a plan to trade Iraqi crude oil for Iranian refined oil have also been proposed and are being acted upon. Iran event sent a delegation to meet with Iraqi Governing Council, thus virtually recognizing United States authority in forming Iraq's new government. The cultural and de facto influence Iran has over Iraq is much greater, however, but this is not the influence that has created the insurgence.

Further Iranian industrial and trade deals with Iraq seem to be taken offensively by the US, and the latter continues to refuse Iranian support in the region despite the sorry state of affairs in much of Iraq. It seems wise to forget Iran's nuclear ambitions (which I find doubtful that the Iranians could achieve anything worthwile in this field) for the time being and accept Iranian help in the region. Of course, the possiblity of Iran attempting to control Iraq is real, but it might be the best possible solution to getting US soldiers and Sunni extermists/terrorits/insurgents out of Iraq.

Australia has just sent an other 200 men , the third increase in three years
while the pacific islands are getting sticky

Irack is sucking men , ressouces , and goodwill at an alarming rate ,

the net effect is than the U.S. government is facing up with Iran with a
busted flush , the iranian , everybody , knows than any military
unpleasantness would require the draft ,
no allied whatsoever would be forthcoming , the NATO call for more men in
Afghanistan was a flop ! :-? A drive to Teheran is fantasy !
