Hello all- I'm searching for information on my father's unit-Btry C, 815th AAA AW Bn. Edward G. "Ed" Boyer was wounded near the end of the war, and flown to Valley Forge General Hospital after losing an eye. I have his unit's itinerary from when they boarded the Niew Amsterdam in New York, debarked in Scotland, and crossed the Rhine. After that, the info dries up. I understand that late in the war, many units were formed as composites of other organizations. I would appreciate any information, or help in pointing me to other sources. Thanks to all who served!

Thanks so much for the lead. That photo collection is at Carlisle Barracks, and within driving distance. Other information gleaned from that site pointed to the Eisenhower Archive, which contains much AAA (including the 815th), and tank information. I'll be contacting them next. Thank you again. EPL is very user friendly, but their records are not necessarily complete. Some of the records have been cataloged and summarized in a collection of PDFs on the EPL website. If they have not done that with the unit(s) in which you are interested, contact them and ask them for a summary.

    Have you already seen this:

Very lengthy memoir by an 815th member. Some great GI stories in there. Looks like he was in Battery D, but that's close enough considering the battalion only numbered somewhere around 850.
