"Heroes of Old Hickory" scheduled for release in summer of 2011 but haven't seen anything yet, maybe I'm missing something... Heroes Of Old Hickory - Heroes of Old Hickory
November 23rd (TanksGiving)- Military Channel - Tank Marathon. Old tanks - New tanks. For my Armored Friends.
I think that the reason Starship Troopers looks "cheesy" is that, unlike most movies, the makers took reat pains to be true to the book, written in the "50's - it may not really have been a "B grade movie" - at least by intention.
Starship Troopers the movie is nothing like Starship Troopers the book. They share the same title and some characters but not much else.
I heard it was really tacky and over dramatic. I was going to see it but I changed my mind after hearing the reviews,. according to one review they say it would be a better history channel episode on dog fights rather than a movie. My friend watched it and he said other than the dog fighting action nothing else was good.
German and British planes down in Norway 1940 and they have to share the same cottage... Just ordered to be sent to me... Into The White - Official Trailer - UK Subtitles - YouTube Also Japanese movie " Admiral Yamamoto".. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNhBDJmZcVo
"Into the White" looks interesting. It reminds me of "Hell in the Pacific" with Lee Marvin. I found some limited information on the "true story" that inspired the film (including photos of the He111 wreckage) -- does anyone have anything more substantial? The Yamamoto one also looks promising. The music that begins around the 1:00 mark had me scratching my head, though.
Viewed on my work computer, which has no sound! (cheap bastards), so i'll have to wait till I get home to see what you mean.
LOL!! That music is, well, unexpected. Not to sound parochial, but I hope the film comes with English subtitles, at least.
I have noticed there have been several situations where in Japanese war films the music sounds pretty much awkward. I guess it has something to do with culture etc. Maybe they are surprised about our choice of background music as well.
Apparently, production is due to start in Europe in March 2013.....so possibly Winter 2013/2014 for release ?
Not WW2, but Algeria War ( but with Monte Casino vets on both sides who were once comrades of arms fighting each other) . The Intimate Enemies is a great film that I really recommend
Brief visit to Germany a couple of weeks ago. Bought the Rommel movie and this: Flying Fortress - B17 - Luftkrieg über Europa Trailer Deutsch(info Text Deutsch) - YouTube I suppose the air battles are computer magic but I thought they were quite good.
