Pretty much no one plays hockey in Australia...(but because we are sporting giants) we are second in the world at hockey...we pretty much don't play ice hockey at all in Straya...But Darwin is home to the Ice Hockey World Champions.

Today marks the restart of the AFL season...round 2.
Tonight my team the Collingwood Magpies plays the Richmond Tigers in an opening block buster...

The US can watch live at about 6 in the morning, though I would record it and watch it at a more respectable time...Geelong vs Hawthorn on Friday and the local derby Adelaide Crows vs Port Power on Saturday, sure to be a bruiser...and 2000 people being allowed to watch in the stadium. I've seen one game in about ten months, so am very excited today!

    i enjoy a good match.
football of any kind is always more enjoyable when nature is also against man.
my best memories of cfl/nfl were in very inclement weather.

For AFL wet weather makes the ball slick so the skills drop, and the ball becomes heavier so kick distances drop...the play becomes scrappy...suits some teams over others.

players with low center mass have a good field day on bad weather days. enjoy seeing a freight train running downfield.

Two of the game’s greats ‘Lethal’ Lee Mathews and Gary Ablett fit that description nicely...

    FUBAR, another Canadian underground hit.
    sometimes people are characterized.
sometimes those characterizations hold some accuracy.
we are not afraid to speak.

Yes, we have a sump. It is the last step before finding the door.
