    What is the first name?

Several Riordons can be found on the Navy muster rolls.

....you know you're Irish stuff...confirmed by the son of the sailor, the sailor's father was Irish...the parent's of the wife of the sailor were both Irish....they visited relatives in Ireland 13 times! ....the son said everyone in their family has Irish names
....it never sounded Irish to me

The name should be O'Riordan...those in Northern Ireland who wanted to join the Brits dropped the "O" or Anglosised their names...don't get me started : )
Don't mention this to them...could hit a nerve.

    Pronounced "Reer-den" or "Ree-ordin"

    A famous O'Riordan

    Dolores O'Riordan - Cranberries
    From Limerick, southern Ireland.

I'm an Aussie mate...but my ancestors are from Ireland (County Cork - about as south as it gets) Scotland and England...but 80% Irish. Due to the discrimination of Irish and Catholics, there was a huge cohort of Irish given transportation to Australia as punishment for even small crimes in Britain, where many Irish travelled in the hope of employment. (Sounds familiar). So they thought sending us to sunny Australia was a punishment..? Many today say thankyou to the British government!
