USN and RAF Coastal Command

    A quote from my Father's WW II diary. He was an Armed Guard gunnery officer. The picture is him with the stern 4"/50 caliber stern gun on the transport Liberty ship SS Reverdy Johnson

    February 28, 1943
    Woodvale, England
    Overcast and raw

    Visited a RAF airport and was very, very well treated. Went up in a Beau Fighter on a regular patrol flight. 270 mi per hour elevation 10,000 feet.
    Just saw ocean vessels no enemy
