Saw a documentary on the VW bug during the war & it got me thinking that it was built under Hitlers directive, therefore, would that not technically make him the worlds 1st hippie?

Also if superman had been born in Germany, he would have been called Uberman, pronounced ooberman. If this had happened, would germany have won the war?

Good point. Hitler was a vegan & did experiment with hallucinagenics in the 20's, was into astrology & occult stuff, (order of the black sun), etc. Maybe "beat"nick is a better word as he liked beating up other countries.

He also believed in gun control & ceasing class distinction, putting workers on same level as others. Liberal leanings.I can see This is gonna be a long thread.

Got the point, but nonetheless both Hitler & Joe outlawed firearms when they came to power. Unless you count the Panzerfaust in 45. I suspect they didn't want any of the intelligent dissenters to shoot at them. But that's another thread.

Lets not forget that Hitler kicked off the space program & got environment friendly synthetic fuel technology moving as well. Last thoughts on this intellectually challenging thread. P.S. its only humor.

    Some Hitler quotes...

"What luck for the rulers that men do not think."

"The great masses of the people... will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one."

"Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope. "

Ok... maybe the last one wasn't Mr. Hitler ;)

Here's something I found on the VW or "people's car".Hitler ordered a factory built just for the building the car, employing some 30,000 workers in 1938.It was to be a car every German could afford[aka.Model T]at $390/990 reichsmarks. To show what a nice guy he was, customers would pay weekly installments of 5 marks/$2 and put on a waiting list for the next available car. Here's the good part. Before the first car was delivered[but after 20million marks were collected] Germany invaded Poland and the warwas on.The factory was converted to war use and the first "hippie mobile" came out in 1946.1st ones available to hippies that is. Bad timing or funding for the war?? "Just one more payment to go and it'll be all mine!"Doah!

Interesting, perhaps they made the "Thing" instead. It was used like a jeep during war. Bunch of bugs went to France for war reparations in 46.
