guys, I have put in a plug for this, but now the site is officially open....... just starting out so give it time, www.ss-panzer.de/ covers the heavy Tiger battalion of Das Reich through the Heavy Abteilung 102/502 Enjoy ! E
They are a nice site. I stumbled across them sometime ago, but lost track on what site it was. Thanks for listing it
Carl : ? Sometime ago ? this site only opened up the last couple of months. The web-master I have been in contact since last year when he told me who his father was / a Tiger Kommanduer with 10 kills in the unit. Also another one of the son's is writing the Pz Abteilung history...... E
Another good one for the links page, thanks Erich. BTW, what the heck is that first vehicle in the convoy? I've onle evr seen one other photo of it, but I have no idea what it is.
Hi Erich--I think it is--I saw this one about 2 months ago when I was searching the links from another armor site--I accidently stumbled onto this site--then the computer froze up and I couldnt remember how to get back to it.
Hi Erich--it is the site--I remember seeing the picture with Walter Kruger. In fact--this site was what influenced me into starting the sketches of the Waffen SS bios I have been working on. I did both Krugers first.
Yes, nice site. Thanks for letting us know. The vehicle is a British Daimler Dingo scout car. It's funny, there seems to have been quite a few German units that used British kit in NW Europe. Wasn't it one of the 9th SS Recce units that had a Humber A/C?
Carl : That would make sense. A year ago the webmaster was telling me sometime soon,,,,,,and that is where it was left. I was checking monthly and nothing until now, so 2 months ago would seem correct. Also the vehicle makes perfect sense as the II SS Pz. Korps fought exclusively agaisnt British armor and infantry. It may well have been abandoned on Hill 112 whcih was a total fiasco from both sides. In the firestorm of the last war year and other books covering this the action was back and forth for weeks. The smoke was terrible and no-one could see anything till about 50-100 yards distant. E
Thats wierd--I just replied to you and it dissappeared. Anyway--I was saying that I didnt like it when computers go nutzo--as I am always stumbling into an interestig site when that happens, and I almost never know where to look for that site again.
