    Hey guys,

I've just put together a website detailing the the Eastern Front war.

It's called War on the Eastern Front. World War 2 in Russia

It's still in it's infancy. I add and improve it on most days.

    Love to get some feedback.

    Cheers!

    James

You might want to include the other countries and military forces involved in the Eastern Front also. Many which are mentioned here such as the Italians,Finns,Hungarians,Romanians,Spanish,Slovaks ,Croatians, ect. Thier weapons, vehicles, aircraft and commanders and soldiers. There are too many sites that neglect the contributions of others while just focusing on the Germans and Soviets.

From what i've seen James--you have done a great job of it. I'll be
more than happy to support the site w/ pictures, and info I have and or can get, as well as help on info concerning RKTs and such.

If interested-please let me know. Also, if I go to the trouble and expense of making copies of my photos, I would need a guarentee that they will be posted and used. I've done this for several sites in the past, and none of my pics have been used for some strange and unknown (to me) reason. I do say that I do have some rather nice pics including Heinrich Hoffmann PK press photos as well as autographed photos and photos that are I.D'd to paricular units.

If interested, please let me know here or by my email addy left for you on your fine site.

    Best regards--Carl.

I don't know what's going on with those other websites but if you want to post at more than one website (assuming James wants to take a look at your pics as well) I would also be more than happy to review your pics for posting at The Globe At War. Check out my site and let me know what you think. Email me via my "Contact Us" page if you are interested.

    Regards

Hi Steve, sounds great to me and let me start looking at your site tomorrow-providing my brother leaves his laptop comp home for me to use. Anyway, I have HH PK pics, and quite a few snapshot pics--which most are Eastern Front pics including a few on the outer limits of Stalingrad to a few inside Stalingrad-or at Gumrak Airfield.

I also have a few dealing w/ Kursk and I am hoping to add a few more interesting pics to my collection soon-and im also hoping to get one that was taken just outside of Moscow in the winter of 41 which shows a German soldier looking inside a KOed T-34, and the other shows GenLt Alfons Hitter at a railyard in Vitebsk.

Anyway, i'll try visiting your site tomorrow and will be in touch w/ you.

    Take care--C.

Hi Steve, sounds good to me, and shortly after th
is post. i'll head to your site. ;-))

PS, bad news in the Moscow and Vitebsk pics--they were already sold, but not marked as such. However, some good news is that I THINK I have secured four goodo excellent photos and three are directly related to the Eastern Front, and the other might be distantly related to the East-because it was taken on June 20-1940-but may have seved in Russia from 41 onward. I'll not know for sure till I look in my books tonight.

Pic 1) is a snapshot-sized photo showing a German Offier awarding Iron Crosses to a group of Rumanians w/ a sizable unit of Rumanians presant.

Pic 2) is the one I will research tonight. This one shows 13 officers, NCOs and men, who were just awarded their (various grades of) Iron Crosses by GenLt. Flugbeil (SP?) and whom is not in the photo but is highly reseachable because I have their unit Nr and their last names.

Pic 3) Is a Propaganda Kompanie Press Photo of Gen.d.Kav Mackensen who is in his PzSpahwagon along w/ his crew.

Pic 4) is a private snapshot photo of (then) GenLt. Heinz Guderian visiting some units HQ somewhere on the Russian Front.

These were available at the time I placed and paid for, my order-so I should be safe in saying that these are now mine. ;-))

Good news indeed. It sounds like pictures 3 and 4 would be the most usable right now. Good luck on your research.

Wicked. Loving the support guys. Can't wait to see the photos. That's definately going onto the website. A great image area of both russians and germans. I love the ones of soldiers just taking it easy, having cups of tea and whatnot. Obviously the battle ones kick arse as well!! Also I was thinking of maybe a google maps area, where you can see where the battles were fought and what they look like know. Stalingrad would be an obvious one, Kursk, Leningrad, Moscow. And completely agree that some more obscure stuff like the units that got closest to Moscow. Reading wise, these days I'm more interested in the personal experiences of the soldiers themselves. So somehow that would be cool to convert onto the website.
