How many of you have family or had family(rest in peace) that served during WWII? Or had close friends that served in WWII?

One grandfather was training as an RAF glider pilot when the war ended. The other was in Northern Ireland and was never called up - and never volunteered, he was very anti-British.

My Father served in the Pacific, My 3-uncles each served in the Pacific and the German front. My 6 cousins all served in the pacific. In our family we lost 2. One Uncle, at Luzon, and the other at IwoJima. So we as a family have given alot to our country. My husband was drafted during Veitnam, and my son and son-in-law both served in the Gulf.

My father in law was a photographer during the war. I have seen some of the photos but never really had a chance to talk to him about his expierences or how much of the war he saw. He has been sick for quite a few years now.

I am always very proud of the brave men in my family. We have all been touched by their service. My Father and my Uncles are gone now, but I still have the Hubby, and my son and son-in-law, to celebrate with on Veterans Day. In our house it is more than a national holiday, its like Christmas. We always give presents and attend the local service programs, that are presented to the Vets every year. And of course the SOS breakfast we all eat. :silly: This was a very favorite of my Fathers.:thumb:
