Whoops, sorry, posted before I was ready, you have got to admit those two little dots above a letter look really Germanic, I'm sure KP would prefer those Roel, after all he did mention a missing umlaut; just think how authentic his postings would look!

What makes you think I memorize them? I can't even remember what I was doing this morning, I can remember what I was doing seventy odd years ago though, that's what happens as you grow old Roel.
No, I have them written down in my little computer note book, one thing I learnt many years ago was this, "You don't have to know everything but it's handy to know where to find it".

Those dots can be done easier than with that alt+XXX thingy, atleast with some keyboards and layouts. Try to find where you got a button with ¨ sign. Then press that sign and letter e, you (might) get ë. Same goes with y, u, i, o and a, hence ÿ, ü, ï, ö and ä.
Dunno if it works with everybody.

By the way merlin, knowing Alt-XXX -thingy is not bad for an old f*rt :D

Cheeky young sod! The only double dots I've got (apart from them floating across my eyes) are the pair going the other way eg : , you tell me where to locate them! In any case, it won't hurt KP to work it out the hard way, these young-uns today!!! Want it all on a plate!
