How is a thread determined to be hot?

    1. Many rapid responses.

    2. Many 5 Star Ratings.

    3. Lots of Salutes.

    Drearily, 'Hot' = 25+ posts.

It's under the settings group called 'Useful for teenage fansites, but cock all relevance to anyone else'.

Supplying my own example here......no I am not asking what came first the chicken or the egg(that is just too hard to answer)....we are dealing with heat or hot topics so this is one you can literally take the temperature of......if you would like that. So the question is this ......why do we handle our huevos (eggs) differently here than in Europe? This explains it a bit but doesn't completely answer the question so this is just an introduction to the subject. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-europe-doesnt-refrigerate-eggs-164710113.html

Today I learned. Thanks Vic...My gf likes to leave food out. She'll leave a pot of rice on the stove overnight, and reheat it for breakfast...I throw anything away that has reached room temperature. Wash hands all the time, won't share a cigarette. Swear involuntarily when stressed. Nervous tick in the left eye.

    -spelling.

Poppy....you just caused me to think of something else..........maybe in Europe they leave them at room temperature just in case they are fertilized.....then it may taste like "fried chicken" when they fry a couple up for breakfast. What do you think? Perhaps it is a way to get more for your money.....leaving things out to get up to room temperature. Your gf may have something there.

    Ha-VG...
How are the "recent topics" determined? There are aboot 5-10 different topics listed on the front page. They are not the most recent, and not the "hottest". Just curious.

I think you are confusing "topics" with "replies".

The "recent topics" are the most recently created "new" topics. If you click on the "View new Content" button, that will give you the list of topics by most recent response.

Unsure if you were addressing me MrT. ..Recent topics do not seem to follow a timeline. Some are newer, some older. ..

Probably wrong, but maybe there is a human decision as to what is recent, and posted on the front page...I don't care either way, just interested in how things work here, there, everywhere. ..Shiny things:

You are obviously a deep thinker Poppy and I found the prefect website for you. I do not know if it includes shiny things though.

    Oh Lord, thanks Jeff.

I tried to forget my teenage spending sprees at that goofy store. The all black clothes phase.....great years.....:)

Indeed Sir. I add it to the list of other questionable actions of my youth. Like buying the "Klingon Dictionary".
