    Im guessiing a base plate for a mortar...

    Thanks CAC...I did a bit of research on that and haven't found a match yet although the baseplate on the 3 inch mortar did give me pause.
    FWIW the curator at the Big Red One Museum in France thought it was from a landing craft.

    I'm going to keep researching and will post here if/when I find out what it is.

    I think a PEICE of mettle from a transport ship.

    Or a bomb, where on Omaha beach did you find it?
