Nice helmet Brad .....I looked at the photo first.....and you know, I said to myself "that's funny, Brad has the same type of white tiled floor as Skipper" ...then I looked at the helmet again, then the floor, only then did I read what you said.

    nice transaction guys :)

Excellent that's the info I was looking for. So basically I have the pin a collaborator. Not bad considering I paid 20 euros for it.

    Hey Erich,

I think that maybe you missed what I had written in my reply above...the pin is for civilian work in the Army, Navy and Waffen-SS. The Luftwaffe had their own version...similar design but with a winged swastika.

    No problem Skipper,

In mint condition these can fetch upwards of 150 Euro...this one I think would be around 40-50 Euro...so it was a nice buy!

Cool, so I assume I have the silver version. Was it originally coated with a silver lair then?

Well...not necessarily. It is possible that this one could have been gilted as well. There looks to be heavy zinc pest which has eaten away and absorbed the finish over the years. The odds would say that it was once silver in finish...but you probably will never know for sure. If you plan on selling it down the road you'd have to probably sell it as a silver one as there just isn't any evidence left that it was once gold.

Anyways, glad I could be of some help.

thanks Skip yes this will go nicely framed with my Schule Mürwik Mützenband in the office. Incidentally the school was instrumental in training KM Offiziers for commanding Schnellboots. there are at least two members wearing the badge in the foto.

The Ritterkreuzträger is KKpt Otto Schuhart, former Kdt of U 29. He was in command of Section I/Flensburg-Mürwik, then commander of Naval Infantry Battalion Schuhart between Sep 1944-Aug 1945.

I haven't posted here in a while, but here is a bit to make up for it:
I got this lot 2 days ago for 18 $, i didn't believe it myself, since the air medals go for much more than that:

I haven't gotten that much lately, since i have been saving up for a militaria and arms fair this weekend(Wish me luck).
And I gave my number to the owner of an antiques shop, and he said he had just got in a Norwegian army coffee ration tin(Pre-war), and a large german ammunition case from 1945.
