Uniform grouping to a 94th / 80th Division guy. Andrew J. Loeffler fought with the 919th F.A. Bn. of the 94th, before being transferred to the 80th Division for shipping back to CONUS and being demobilized.

It was a good catch today.

I planned on buying the medal on the left for months and I finally found it. It is a commemorative medal for 20 years of Yugoslav People's Army. My grandpa has it's ribbon on his ribbon bar but he never received it since he was on the military academy at the time. It's his 77th birthday soon and I'm going to surprise him by giving it to him.
The right one is the Order of Labour 3rd class. It's not in a good shape but I bought it because of it's low number.

Also bought the box for the Order of People's Merit 3rd class which I have from my grand-grandpa from the WWII.

Pliers TL-201, they have a plastic coating on the jaws and were used to remove lamps from radios receivers and transmitters.

U.S. WW2 bandages, found in a French recycled medic kit. All items are prior to August 1944!

Bought from an antique dealer who got this from an Austro-German family . It comes directly from their home and had the chicken wire when I got it.

From what I see, this is a M-35 model Helm with two coats of paint . I suspect one or even both decals might still be under the second coat, but I have not dared touching anything at this point. I would also need to remove the second coat inside to find the serial and maker. On one picture one can guess part of a Luftwaffe wing.
I love the general aspect . The real aspect is a bit darker than on most pictures, which were taken with a flash . One picture shows a somewhat darker shade which is closer to reality.

Looks like you got fooled again, this is clearly a reproduction helmet; you should ship it to me immediately for disposal, so as to not clutter up the European market with such obvious reproductions.

You can even send it "postage due", as a token of my willingness to clean up the European Militaria market :)

Don't worry about salutes I have more than I can dream of and Jug will gladly trade them by sending me his helmet collection. I'll be back after sorting out the serial and maker number and.... if there are any decals left under the paint.....

A few weeks ago I got a full, unopened, crate of 1/2 pound blocks of TNT. Yesterday I finally found the time to do some work on it. I took me half an hour to take off the lid. The nails were rusted and the wood was extremely frail. They obviously used the worst quality of wood they could find to make these crates, as the crates were meant to be used only once, this makes perfect sense! Anyhow, my crate is in a bad shape and the woodworms had feasted on it. So even taking all the care in the world I did not manage to open the lid without leaving any traces, so now the wood is heavily dented in some places.

I took out all the TNT blocks and cleaned the wooden crate with some clear water, after it had dried, I applied chemical protection product that is supposed to kill off the woodworm and prevent a new infestation.

Meanwhile I opened the TNT blocks at the base by cutting the cardboard container open with a cutter, took out the explosive, and glued the cardboard container shut again.

At the end I applied linseed oil mixed with turpentine to the crate, and repacked the empty TNT blocks.

When I was finished I noticed that I had forgotten to take pictures of the crate before i started working on it! So no "Before and after" pics!

Oh, and don't worry, the TNT was picked up by our Army's EOD service this morning.
