When do i get promoted?

If it's something like that, I would agree with Ron. I would request some type of naval symbol. It wouldn't have to be an anchor or anything, just something that could remind you of the navy. I'll look for some images and send them to one of you guys (Otto and C.Evans).

I dont have the URL address with me but you can go to search engines and pick Alta Vista and type in Military Ranks and it will take you to a page listing several good sites, or you can find the topic on this forum about links and it is in there because I ansewred it for Ron. This site has US Military Ranks in color and both Officers and Enlisted pictured.

As far as I know, there are sites out there that have some German stuff in color but im not sure which do and which do not.

Actually, I did find something yesterday that will interest JoCon. I am in the middle of a bidding war for a nice set of Kriegsmarine NOC's shoulderboards that have giltes metal Anchor devices on them. If I win these I will get a good scan made of them and send them to Otto to see if he can post them here for you.
