All I know about my great grandfather's service is that he was in the German army in WWI, and he was part of the infantry. He won an Eisernes Kreuz I Klasse, for reasons unknown and must've had a 2 Klasse as well. Unfortunately all of his relics are owned by my great aunt, whose location is unknown. If anyone knows of the service record of Heinrich Burfiend, or knows where to get it, I'd be very obliged for the info.

It sounds to me like you would need to start looking for your Great-Aunt. If you dont know anything about what unit he was with, etcetera, she will probably be your greatest hope. Being that it is WWI, and considering the ammount of devastation done to Germany during WWII, you better look for her first.

I have some genealogy leads. I'll need a name and as much info as you have. Emigration dates would also be important.
