I'll be joining Red Baron in his underground bunker. I don't think there are bonuses for being shot at, or jumping out of a serviceable aircraft or being on a Murmansk convoy.

I knew a guy who served in the Navy in the Carribbean Sea during WWII and he had a good time with the girls in Cuba and did not get shot at. My type of war!

And wasn't one of his brothers (?cousins) a senior Luftwaffe commander in Italy in WW2?

If I knew I could get through, combat medic for the 47th Inf. Rgt., 9th Div., from North Africa all the way through...kinda follow my uncle around. That's a pure fantasy situation though. If I honestly went back, as a draftee, in the US aircorps, patrolling the Carribean for German subs. Yep, I'm a weenie.

Sommecourt--yep--a "Richthoffen" was the Commander of a Luftflotte on the Eastern Front. I cant remember if it was Manfreds Brother or Cousin--he is Wolfram v. Richthoffen.

Welcome to the Forum Ta-152!!! We hope you enjoy yourself here and also hope to see many posts from you! And please; would you choose being a Ta-152 pilot so you can shoot down Mustang in his Mustang? [IMG]

I would be a Wehrmacht Generalfeldmarschall of course, there are some 20 American divisions to encircle and destroy with a Kesselschlacht over there. [IMG] Of course a "Pour le Mérite", Knight's Cross of the Royal House of Hohenzollern and Knight's Cross with Oakleaves and Swords recipient... :D :D :D

I forgot to tell, but field marshall Wolfram von Richthofen was cousin of baron Manfred von Richthofen, scored 8 victories during WWI. And Manfred's brother, Lothar von Richthofen was also a pilot during WWI and scored 40 victories. The two brothers were Pour le Mérite reci`pients.

    Lothar von Richthofen (1894-1922)

    Wolfram Freiherr von Richthofen (1895-1945)

    Great pics!

I agree that being stationed in Cuba and entertaining all the ladies would a fine choice! That is why the military calls it a "dream sheet!"

And what do you say about field marshall Friedrich von Hammerstein bla, bla... being awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oakleaves and Swords for surrounding and destroying 20 American divisions?

No such luck--unless these "Ami" Divisions were on the Easteern Front. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Nice photos Mein General; the Red Baron's crash site is not far from my home here in France. I often pass it on my way to work in that area.

I came across the cousin in WW2 during some research into Italy; although I can't remember in what capacity?

No, Carl. I meant 20 divisions in the Western Front after they have advanced deep into France and have met any German soldier... It is time for Von Runstedt, Rommel and myself to teach the bloody yanks how beautiful a German Kesselschlacht is. [IMG]
