I'd like to hear from you. Who really financed Nazi Germany from the beginning? I've read many things about it: 1. German industrialists (Krupp, Thyssen, etc) 2. Jewish bankers from New York (Rothschild, Morgenthau, Kuhn & Leob, etc...)
Mito- I was recently watching Dateline NBC a number of weeks ago, and in addition to Bankers (not only Jewish) and German Industrialists, The Nazis implemented a prgram (the exact name of it escapes me now) that tried to appeal to German immigrants living in the United States. A considerable amount was raised. Also, it was discovered the Bayer (still a prosperous pharmaceutical company today) also played a significant role. Ironically, Bayer were recently under investigation for their "alleged contribution" to medical experiments tested on death camp prisoners.

> Who really financed Nazi Germany from the > beginning? The German taxpayers financed the expences of the German state of course, this was later (during the rearming) helped by various inventive measures taken by the German Central Bank, such as Mefo bills. I am however not sure if that was what you are wondering about or if your questions is who financed the activities of the Nazi party. /Marcus Third Reich Factbook http://www.skalman.nu/third-reich/
Mito- Why would Jewish bankers finance Nazi Germany? Read #2 in your first post - this was your original statement. Anyways, Bankers, primarily from New York, had financed a "restructure" of Germany in the very early days. Only later would it become apparent how it would be used..........
Marcus, I was asking generally about the early years. Germany was in ruins after the great depression and I was wondering how it could raise after that.
> I was asking generally about the early > years. Germany was in ruins after the > great depression and I was wondering how > it could raise after that. When Hitler came to power the German economy had already improved dramatically for the depression. Germany (as a state) was never financed by any "shady conspiracy", it was financed by the German taxpayers (which of course included bankers, industrialists etc). /Marcus Third Reich Factbook http://www.skalman.nu/third-reich/

quote:
Originally posted by Mito: I'd like to hear from you. Who really financed Nazi Germany from the beginning?

Germany’s economic growth from 1932 on was bought on credit. Her dept climbed from 12 B Reichsmark in 1933 to 40 B in 1938. Reserves in gold or foreign exchange were exhausted. Gy was almost bankrupt in 1938, the consequences were expansion, annexation and finally the threat of war to secure the economical funding and the establishment of a kind of “large scale economy” to ensure Hitler’s preparation for war. Military expenditures rose from 5 to 6 billion RM in 1935 to 10 to 14 billion RM in 1938. Autarky was considered to be the “National Socialistic alternative” to market economy. But in reality Gy was highly depend on imports (food, raw materials). There a basically three methods in helping that: a) “internal colonization”, meaning exhausting of all domestic resources against all costs, b) acquiring of new resources and c) world trade. Nazi Germany clearly choose a) and, because this wasn’t sufficient, b). But the creation of a “grosswirtschaftsraum” (larger trade area) needed to be established by military means. Hitler made no secret about this. Gy was preparing to do so continuously since 1933. The rationing of foreign exchange; development of trade relation to those countries which “are within the reach of our own weapons”; planned internal colonization against all rules of profitability; prescribed import quotas under armament aspects; forcing of bilateral relationships even if not competitive; planned barter trade not from a competitive point of view, but under *financial clearing* and military strategic aspects; transfer of foreign trade relationships away from overseas towards South-SE-Europe because of military strategic and “lebensraum” considerations; etc, etc... In simple terms: Hitler was borrowing money on an extreme high interest. He felt comfortably with this, because he used the money to buy a handgun in order to kill the lender...
It were probably the Swiss banks. Because during the war billions and billions were put on accounts there. Same goes for Sweden and Portugal. The money came from teeth of death Jews and also of property which was being sold.
