Does anyone know why Hitler declared war on so many countries including the US? Was he just crazy or did he have too much confidence in his army?

When its a war against enemies of the Reich, you may have to fight several nations at once. This is the nature of war. When a nation dosent agree with your policies and is viewed as an enemy, you naturally declare war on it to eliminate it from the scene.

Hitler declared war the on the United States because he was trying to be too good of an ally. His hopes were that his alligning himself fully with Japan against the US would bring the Japanese to declare war on the USSR where Germany was being bled to death. He was not obliged to by any treaty, as with the case in Italy in the North African desert, Hitler was too good to his Allies and too optimistic about what his Allies would do in return for him.

So he took too much care with his allies and not enough with his own army, and his own problems.
