    I often Dream of Dancing,
    With Eagles in the Sky,
Of chasing Thunder through the Clouds,
    Such wondrous dreams have I.
Of Snow-capped Mountains beneath my Wings,
    The Ocean far below.
So high that Day becomes the Night,
    And Stars begin to Glow.
    I often Dream of Dancing,
    With Eagles in the Sky.
    Of gliding close to Heaven,
    These Visions such have I.
Of flying high above the Earth,
Where Peace is known to grow.
To soar above among the Birds,
I Dream of this to know.
My Dreams are but Dreams and Dreams they’ll always Be,
I’ll never rise and touch the Sky,
But in my Dreams I’ll see.
    I often Dream of Dancing,
    With Eagles in the Sky,
And dare to Dream that one Day,
    The Eagles Dance With Me.

I shall know you as "Dancing with Eagles"...

I take it the Eagles are a metaphor for the US?

    Thanks CAC,
It started out as a reference to the F-15's flying overhead (and out of sight), but the more I wrote the more I felt a sense of - for fear of suffering the slings & arrows- a tranquility and kinship to those looking out for us. So yeah the Eagles are a metaphor but not just for the US. It was the first time I can remember that other Countries stepped up and without hesitation, came to help us. Canada and the Netherlands are two I recall as helping provide air cover within hours of the attacks. No discussions in Congress, no debate in the Senate, just an immediate - "What can we do and where do you need us".
The "Eagles" are to me, Our Protectors, Our Heroes and Our Friends.
To 'Dance' with them is an Honor.

    Nice words Biak...
You may not know this but our then Prime Minister - John Howard - Was in Washington when the planes hit the towers...he was pledging full support and any assistance that very afternoon. I agree with you...It was a notice to the "undesirables" of this earth (you know who you are) that we as a group will not tolerate being attacked, that we WILL band together and become a force to be feared. We all learned a lesson in mateship that day. - Something Aussies take for granted.

    There ya' go my friend!
I can still feel the stillness of standing outside. I'd watch the lights of the commercial airlines each night when I slipped out for a cigarette but "that" night there was nothing. After the turmoil during the day the eerie silence was deafening.
